The works in this exhibition are created using hand-dyed paper, collage, watercolor, ink, rubbing alcohol, wintergreen oil, and found materials. As a medium, collage is surrealist, highly strange, and dreamlike.
Through this visual language, these works explore what it means to live beside the monsters we carry. Rather than recounting personal history, they trace how memory and dread blur over time, where beauty and unease share the same ground. Together, they create a shifting dreamscape of coexisting shadow and radiance.
While the medium is often attributed to Picasso and Braque in 1912, modern Western collage can be traced to Mary Delany's eighteenth-century Flower Mosaicks. Collage was a popular hobby, pastime, and demonstration of scholarship for Victorian women. This historical lineage underscores the medium's enduring capacity to transform fragments into meaning, making it especially relevant to Jane Gallery's continued interest in material experimentation, storytelling, and contemporary artistic practice.

“My work explores the spaces where memory, imagination, and emotion overlap. Art has never felt like a choice for me, but a necessity — a way to process, cope, and understand the world around me. Growing up in a large family, in an environment where creativity became a place of refuge and expression, art was something I turned to from an early age. From childhood into adulthood, creating has been a constant source of transformation and self-discovery.
Becoming a mother has deepened that connection, allowing me to reconnect with my own inner child and revisit memories through a new perspective filled with wonder, understanding, and care. I have also been incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by inspiring artists who have encouraged me to continue seeing the world with curiosity and a true sense of wonder.
Through mixed media collage, I combine hand-dyed papers, watercolor, ink, isopropyl alcohol, wintergreen oil, found materials, and flowers I have grown from seed, dried, and preserved. My process balances intention and chance, exploring the delicate relationship between growth and decay, life and death, and the instinct to preserve what is fleeting.
